1. I don’t see any selenium listed on the brochure. Does Hoffman’s Horse Minerals have selenium?
Yes it does. It is listed above the guarenteed analysis at the top of the brochure.(government rule)
2. How much Hoffman’s Horse Minerals do I feed my baby when I wean it?
You feed the same amount to the baby that you would feed a mature horse of the same breed. This is because the foal is building muscle and bone and growing while the mature horse is simply maintaining health.
3. How much Hoffman’s Horse Minerals should I feed my horse?
Feeding instructions are on every bag and bucket, and each bag and bucket has a scoop in it.
4. How soon will I notice a difference once I start feeding Hoffman’s Horse Minerals?
This depends on the situation. If you are not now feeding a mineral, you will notice a change in about 2 to 3 weeks in the hair coat. Stiffness and arthritis, in most cases , will show improvement even sooner. With hooves , the farrier will usually notice a difference in 2 to 3 months.
5. Are Hoffman’s Horse Minerals chelated?
Yes, everything that needs to be chelated in Hoffman’s Horse Minerals, is chelated.
6. Does Hoffman’s Horse Miinerals have any protein?
There is no appreciable amount of protein in the minerals. It is the vitamins and minerals needed to give your horse optimum health. You must add the energy needed from another source.
7. How does Hoffman’s Horse Minerals compare to other brands of minerals?
We don’t try to keep up with all the feeds and supplements out there. The best we can suggest is that you try Hoffman’s on one horse and see how you like the results compared to your current brand.
8. Can I feed Hoffman’s Horse Minerals with a prepared feed that has selenium?
The selenium in most prepared feeds would not be a problem, as the amount is usually not high enough to cause a problem.( however, always check). The bigger problem is that when you mix Hoffman’s Horse Minerals with other prepared feed, it throws the balance of the Hoffman’s Minerals off and you won’t get the highest results that you could get from the minerals. Hoffman’s Horse Minerals works best with high vegetable fat products such as milled flax or rice bran( as is the case in Hoffman’s Horse Ration), and well in rolled oats
